Mission statement
International Training Programmes for Freshwater Protection
The "International Post-Graduate Training Programme in Limnology
(IPGL)" aims to strengthen the scientific capacity of developing
countries to support local, in house-expertise on freshwater eco-system

strategies are implemented via a multi-level approach, from the
individual to the institutional and international levels, that will
enable institutions in developing countries to develop and implement solutions
adapted to local situations. Thus, support of research institutions in
developing countries is done in terms of human resource development,
improved research facilities and strengthened international networking.
The main topics that are covered in the programme are the following:
- Biodiversity & Evolution ecology in freshwater systems
- Water Quality determination & environmental risk assessment
- Fish ecology & fishery management
